Need Support?
Any parent may ask for Home-Start's help:
- You may be feeling isolated in your community, have no family nearby and be struggling to make friends.
- You may have been affected by depression, loss, or lack of confidence
- You may be really struggling with the emotional and physical demands of having young children.
- You may be finding it hard to cope because of family illness.
- You may be a new parent.
Help is at hand. We are non judgemental and support any family with a child under five to rise above the immediate difficulties of parenting. A little help early on is worth more than a lot of help later
After contacting us you will meet with one of our coordinators who will carefully match you with one of our volunteer parents who offer their experience and help.
Your volunteer will visit you in your home for a couple of hours once a week. They provide practical advice borne of experience, a listening ear, reassurance or time for mum to have a moment to herself. They will help you through your difficulties - be that for a month, a year or even longer until the job's done.
If you ask for Home-Start's help you can be sure of total confidentiality. Many families from all walks of life approach us directly. Alternatively our help can be sought through your local health visitor.
