Supporting Us

We are constantly seeking support from individuals and organisations who wish to align themselves with our focus to help the next generation become responsible and productive citizens.

Helping a family who are going through some difficulties early on is much easier and less expensive than having to refer the case to the social services. The cost of supporting a family is around £1500 for providing Home Start in-home support which compares well with the full cost of around £32,000 per child in social services care. By acting early, we save the community a lot more both finanically and emotionally. More, the children stand a greater chance of growing up in a loving and supportive environment which leads to them developing into responsible and productive citizens

A kind word of good advice and friendship now makes all the difference between a child having the chance of a good start in life rather than having to cope with an upbringing in a harsh or dysfunctional environment.

You can help in many ways such as a single or regular donation to help our core costs of running the organisation. Currently, this is our greatest need and these will include supporting costs of the volunteers' preparation courses and travel expenses as well as the usual office costs and salaries for our part time employees.

Alternatively, you can help the families directly with donations to sponsor birthday gifts, a trip to the zoo or pantomime visit at Christmas.

Even more valuable is your time. Helping out either on the management committee, or by being a home visiting volunteer or belonging to the 'Friends of Home Start' group to help with fundraising and promotions are always very much appreciated.

Please contact us to discuss how you can help. We'll make you very welcome.

Funding

Family life can be hard and challenging for many parents. Loneliness, relationship breakdown, bereavement, physical and mental illness or even multiple births can have a profound effect on families.

Management Committee

Opportuinities exist to serve on the management committee. Meeting once a month, the committee is responsible for all business aspects of Home Start and is a great way to meet some very nice people, get involved and contribute towards helping our community

Friends of Home Start

Friends of Home Start is a new concept to harness the energies of past volunteers who wish to remain part of Home Start and help out at functions and fundraising.
